Bruce and Marianne always dreamed of starting their own eco-friendly luxury guesthouse and conference centre, and in 2004 found the ideal location in the tranquil paradise of Irene in Centurion.
It took a further four years to make the necessary changes and investments before they were happy to open their doors. Irene, now over 107 years old, has a small country village atmosphere, with unique stone walls and tree-lined streets. It is a peaceful and convenient location for business travellers with Highveld Technology Park and Route 21 Office Park only five kilometers away.
Superb Centurion restaurants are within a 10-minute driving distance and offer seafood, steak, continental, Portuguese, traditional South African and Turkish, whilst Italian fare is a short walk away.
Says Marianne, “I spent over 10 years in Corporate Marketing and Event Management. I’m also a professional spinning instructor and love family time. But my greatest joy is ensuring that my guests and welcome and that their holiday experience is a wonderful one.”
Adds Bruce. “I’m British but was actually born in Lima, Peru, and my background includes 16 years’ experience at a JSE- listed company where I finished as Managing Director, responsible for driving and growing international sales as well as shaping group marketing strategy across 36 countries on five continents. I’m also the Joint Owner of Open Sky Recycling. “My hobbies include cycling, diving, running , international travel, networking and family time. Among my greatest pleasures though, is building an eco-friendly guest house and conference centre that brings pleasure to all those wonderful people who come to stay with us.
